Out
beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and right doing, there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.

About Kirsten Leitner, MFT
Humanistic Therapy
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice in Midtown Sacramento. I provide psychotherapy to adult individuals on a range of clinical issues; issues that are often labeled as trauma, anxiety and depression. Although these terms are clinically useful as “snapshots”of difficulties you may be experiencing at the moment, I help you move beyond the limiting belief that you “have” a problem.
My approach is integrative, holistic and humanistic. It is non-judgemental and strength-based. My most used, and most valued, therapy tool is Unconditional Positive Regard for you, the person (Carl Rogers,1951). I see value, gifts and wholeness in each person. Psychotherapy is a process of helping you to see it too.
My method is eclectic. Because each person has a different worldview, set of preferences, and state of readiness, each person’s journey will be different. I draw from a variety of modalities: Jungian dream work, symbolism and archetypes; mindfulness-based cognitive therapies; existential therapy; and ecotherapy or nature-based therapies.
EMDR is a treatment that also has a significant place in my practice. Visit my EMDR page for more about this therapy.
